What the FAA currency rules require
- Day passenger currency (§61.57(a)) — 3 takeoffs and 3 landings in the last 90 days, in the same category, class, and type if a type rating is required.
- Night passenger currency (§61.57(b)) — 3 takeoffs and 3 full-stop landings in the last 90 days, between 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before sunrise.
- IFR currency (§61.57(c)) — within the last 6 calendar months: 6 instrument approaches, holding procedures, and intercepting/tracking courses with navaids.
- Flight review (§61.56) — a satisfactory flight review every 24 calendar months to act as pilot in command.
This calculator applies those windows to the flights you enter and shows the exact expiration date for each, computed the same way as the SkyReady app.

FAQ
Does tailwheel change the requirement?
Yes — in a tailwheel airplane, the day and night landings must be to a full stop. Select the tailwheel aircraft option to apply that rule.
Do touch-and-go landings count?
For day currency in most aircraft, yes. For night currency and for tailwheel airplanes, landings must be to a full stop.
